LUSCIOUS WHITE HOT CHOCOLATE

Ever wondered about the origins of hot chocolate?

Read An Abridged History of Hot Chocolate for more information about hot chocolate.

But I have listed, from the article, a few points that may interest you.

Research shows that hot chocolate came from Mexico. It was a very different hot and spicy drink made by crushing cocoa seeds and mixing the powder with cornmeal, chili peppers, and water.

A thick foam was made by pouring it from cup to pot repeatedly. It was then drunk cold.

It was not until the 1700s that hot chocolate showed up in London. To make the drink tastier, the English added milk to the chocolate powder which resulted in hot chocolate as we know it today.

1. IRRESISTIBLE WHITE HOT CHOCOLATE

Ever had a steaming mug of white hot chocolate on a bitterly cold day?

It is a much loved hot drink to soothe you on a chilly day. Often seen as a comfort drink- it has the feel of a tender hug.

White hot chocolate is a great variation of the standard hot chocolate. While people may scoff that white chocolate isn’t “genuine chocolate”, it’s about the taste—and it’s a taste that white hot chocolate drinkers love.

This drink can be enjoyed throughout the year, although it is most enjoyed during the winter season.

White Hot Chocolate Ingredients:

Winter drinks | White hot chocolate is delicious warming drink. Rich and creamy, it is the perfect comfort drink for the chilly winter # Hot Chocolate #White Hot Chocolate

•  1 ½ cups whole milk
•  1 teaspoon vanilla essence
•  40 grams white chocolate (I used Nestles Milky bar)
•  1 tablespoon granulated sugar according to taste

Method:
–   Pour the milk and vanilla essence into a saucepan.
–   Add the white chocolate in small pieces so it melts easily.
–   Bring the milk to a simmer and stir until the white chocolate melts.
–   Don’t boil the milk as this will cause the chocolate to burn.
–  Once the white chocolate has melted, the mixture thickens.
–  Add the sugar according to taste and stir until dissolved.
–  Pour the white hot chocolate into a large mug and serve at once.

The perfect drink for chilly evenings indoors.

2. EXOTIC MAPLE CHAI LATTE

WHAT IS CHAI

Chai is a tea made by brewing tea with herbs and spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, ginger, and black peppercorns.

THE ORIGINS OF CHAI

Legend shows that chai goes back 5000 years. An Indian king ordered that a special spicy liquid be created for use in Ayurveda practice.

According to an article in teatulia.com, chai had healing powers:

The heat from the ginger and black pepper were believed to stimulate digestion; the antiseptic properties in cloves were thought to help relieve pain; cardamom was used as a mood elevator; cinnamon supported circulation and respiratory function, and star anise was known to freshen the breath.

CHAI TODAY

In many parts of the world, but especially on the Indian subcontinent, tea is referred to as “chai”.

In the West,  chai is synonymous with a fragrant, fiery and spicy Indian tea commonly called masala chai.

This Maple Chai Latte takes the regular chai tea up a notch, making it even more irresistibly decadent. It’s just a warm hug waiting to happen.

This drink is perfect for Winter days but can also be enjoyed on hot Summer days as well!

Yes, this drink is so versatile, just refrigerate until chilled, throw in a few ice cubes and enjoy your homemade Chilled Maple Chai Latte.

Have you ever felt the need to sleep but just couldn’t? Has the lack of sleep led you to take dangerous sleeping pills?

But first a little bit about cinnamon and honey.

Cinnamon helps to calm the body down to have a night of quality sleep. It also stabilizes blood sugar levels and improves blood circulation.

So you are less likely to get up suddenly in the night and battle to go back to sleep.

The article Insomnia? Try this Cinnamon and Honey Sleep Drink! shows the benefits of honey:

The sleep benefits of honey are many because honey initiates key sleep responses in the body, among other things:

•  Honey activates sleep hormones serotonin and melatonin
•  Contains magnesium (a deficiency in magnesium causes insomnia)
•  Fuels the liver overnight, which keeps glycogen stable

I love white hot chocolate, but never thought about making my own. I’ve only ever seen and purchased it at Tim Horton’s. It always makes me sad when I can’t find it in the states–every Timmy’s in Ontario seems to carry the white hot chocolate.
