You have covered various aspects of self care so beautifully. Earlier I did not practice self care and it resulted in me being cranky and not happy about anything, getting angry all the time. Finally I realized what I was doing wrong and turned my life around making me a happier person to be around.

As a new mom, I find it extremely beneficial to practice self care. I love how you broke down the different types of self care and what we can do to maintain it.

I love “Start saying ‘No’ to demands that are not OK with you” this has been a hard circle for me to square to be very honest. While I am a very friendly and caring person I find that people really have no issues in trying to take advantage of my kindness on a regular basis.

I am taking a more proactive approach with my self-care. I’ve always put everyone else ahead of myself, but recently I realized that taking care of me is taking care of my family. Thanks for sharing your insight.

I like the way you listed and then detailed the different forms of self-care! Since I work from home, living life on my terms, I make sure that I follow my self-care routine properly.

These are brilliant … all of them. In practicing conscious self-care, Mothers are passing on a gift, extending care and compassion to future generations.

My mother … I’m one of 7 children, rarely practiced self-care without feeling guilty. She took walks with me, but I can’t recall her every indulging herself with pleasures she deserved for herself.

I think of how hard she worked to take care of us. She couldn’t sit down and read a book without feeling “guilty”. She’s 80 now and still the same. The thing is, daughters watch their mothers closely. Every time my mother called herself “lazy” for sitting for a while. Every moment she told me she HAD to be busy – I was learning from her. When she didn’t spend anything on herself – she was sending me a message.

So, while she taught me many things in life, I had to learn the art of self-care somewhere else.

I admire all you mothers who are putting out a different message to the daughters of the world. More self-compassion means more compassion for others.

Thank you for spreading the message!

Thank you for talking about how self care is so much more then spa days! Great tips for each segment of life, I especially love the spiritual ones. When my meditation practice is strong, I feel so much less burn out!
